The Wandle Trail

The River Wandle flows through Hackbridge, and The Wandle Trail can be walked in two directions – north towards Morden Hall Park, Merton Abbey Mills, Earlsfield and Wandsworth (where it enters the River Thames), or east towards Carshalton and Beddington Park.

The trail can be accessed at several points in Hackbridge, including Watercress Park (see Parks). More information, and a printable map can be found at merton.gov.uk.

Alternatives

There are several other walking paths, including one which can be accessed from close to Hackbridge Corner.

Take the upward path just to the side of All Tile Ceramics (see Shops) – this leads to a bridge over the railway line, from where you can either turn right and head towards Beddington Park, or left where the path follows the railway line towards Mitcham Junction.

Cross over the bridge when you come to the edge of Mitcham golf course, and the path will take you back towards London Road, coming out opposite The Goat (see Food and Drink) and Mill Green.
